Digitalfest 2007
Tuesday, 14 August 2007 @ 0:36Just a quick heads up just in case you didn’t know already. Digitalfest is being held September 14th and 15th. Some get more out of it than others but if you’ve never been I’d say it’s worth the trip. This year they are limiting the number of people who can attend so you need to register here.
Wonderful replacement font for Highway Gothic
Thursday, 9 August 2007 @ 21:44Here is a great New York Times Article on Typography. I’m happy about how much attention has gone into the development of the Clearview font. I’m also really happy about the press writing a great article on type design and the importance of choosing a well constructed typeface.
I also look forward to a more legible highway font. Check out those nice open counter spaces. No more cramped “a” and “e” figures.
What do you think about the font? Is it the most legible?
I also like how the article describes the difficulty Meeker had in helping to educate the Federal Highway Administration. What can we do as designers to help educate the public of the importance of this font decision?
Did you learn any other lessons from this article/experience?
Need a responsive programmer!
Thursday, 9 August 2007 @ 8:08I’ve been frustrated trying to find a website programmer that can return my phone calls and get works done when they say they will. I know people are incredibly busy right now, but do you have any suggestions? Can you make a recommendation? I’ve tried contacting larger firms and independent contractors in town that take a designer’s work and make it come alive on the web. I’m interested in basic to more involved including flash, e-commerce and databases.
Help! And thanks!
Angie
