This chart is awesome, and show the coherency of the new Adobe brand. To avoid unnecessary tears, we’ll avoid talking about the new Photoshop logo…

I was trying to decide if I was going to post something about the new Photoshop logo or not. Is Adobe on heroine? What in the world are they thinking? a, they just redid their product logos; b, there is absolutely no connection between it and the rest of the suite; c, there is absolutely no connection between it and the Photoshop logo; d, it does not communicate the legacy and strength of the application, or even what what it is for that matter. Why would you take all of the branding that has been done and then slap a second visual onto it that is completely different? Their various suites and products are complicated enough as it is… why two logos for the same product?

Wade, keep in mind this is the logo for the Photoshop Brand (not the Photoshop.app that we use). This logo is to cover the entire family under the Photoshop Brand - like Lightroom, and Elements and LE. All that aside, the logo is quite weak and confusing and the tagline is something forgetable…something like “imagine the possibilities”. All I see is marketing gone amok and messing up something that was doing quite fine when all the products were differentiated and not a “family”. I don’t know what Adobe marketing is thinking trying to tie together different applications under one “brand”. Lightroom is completely different then Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements should just be called “Elements” and leave it at that. I wish John Warnock were still in charge…

Yeah, it wasn’t until after I posted that I discovered that it was for the “family” and not Photoshop itself. That said, I still believe it to be a weak logo and to be confusing. As you state, I do not understand why they feel the need to market the “Photoshop family,” or even why there is a Photoshop family. How confusing to the customer to have both suites and families.
