I really don't like most designer's condescending attitude towards in-house designers. This includes myself, before I started working in-house. I've been nothing but extremely impressed by the quality of people that I work with. That includes the quality of thinking and work that goes into the projects they do.

I'm hoping that this organization can help add a bit of legitimacy to in-house groups and the work they do.

It's a comment that takes into account my own personal philosophy. This include views about the great importance of design, that general lack of understanding and respect it receives in the business community and my own life balance issues.

Working inhouse is an issue that the design conscious will have to grapple with - nothing against the specific organization.

srjerman, is your preference to work for yourself, then? I am not confident that I understand your comment.

Steven - definitely agree that in-house isn't for everyone but I must say that my current in-house job is very nice and I can definitely see why, for others, it's a perfect fit. I recommend that if you do decide to work in-house, that you do it with a non-profit dedicated to a cause you believe in. I think that makes a world of difference.

I vow never to be in-house except at may own "house". But it will interesting to see what happens, There are definite issues to be looked at and the vast majority of opportunities now are not agency or studio positions.

With the right group it could be offer ideal attributes. But for many, not so much.

It looks like you have the beginnings of a great organization. I signed up for the mailing list.

Good luck.
