Reputable Printers
Monday, 4 August 2008 @ 10:59Can any fellow designers out there recommend a good printer? I won’t mention any names but our usual guys has been botching jobs left and right. I would like to find someone locally who we can use consistently, with a good turn-around time and an eye for craftsmanship.
Thanks,
Alex
I would recommend Rocky Mountain Printing in Orem. They doe great work and treat their customers well. Ask for Dave Erickson. One thing about them is that they also have an excellent digital press so they can do small jobs. Printing Resource in Lindon is also a great place but they only do off-set so you either have to have a large project or a large pocket-book.
I would second Wade’s response on Printing Resource. I’ve worked with Dale Laursen there for over 10 years and never had a problem. (I use to manage thousands of dollars in print every month, even though I don’t do any print these days). RMP has been pretty good overall - I’ve had problems before, but they’ve been resolved fairly quickly.
I think the key is truly in your relationship with your print rep. I’ve used Rhyan Adams at Print2Day almost exclusively for 2.5 years now and it’s a fantastic relationship. We print all of our jobs here and ship everything to fulfill in Chicago.
What type of printing? I manage about $250,000 a year or so in print budgets and I find that customer service can outway a botched job here or there. Even PR has had some challenges with some of our jobs. I won’t go into details.
Alphagraphics in Lehi is great. Steve Dunford is the best print manager ever. I swear by his customer services. He’s like a 30% employee for me. Seriously, they can do offset too. Just did a run of 30,000 direct mail pieces for me offset, and they looked just fine.
We use Printing Resource for our high-end stuff and they have been great to work with. We use some of the smaller printers around the valley for the random projects, and all of them have been hit-and-miss at one point or another.
