About

Welcome to the Utah Graphic Artists Forum, a guild of local professional, amateur, and student artists. Our purpose is to promote and support the development and expression of the graphic arts and to facilitating and ecouraging conversations and interaction between graphic artists in Utah.

We welcome members involved in all forms of the graphic arts, including illustrators, photographers, graphic designers, typographers, user interface designers, and web developers. All are welcome and encouraged to participate, discussing current events and trends, historical topics, theory, techniques, technology, business, and/or employment.

The Utah Graphic Artists Forum is a community. We are a forum in the classic, Roman definition of the word: the main public square at the center of a town which served as the political, social, and commercial center and was surrounded by the most important governmental, religious, and cultural buildings.

Yes, we have a web-based discussion board (”forum”) but that is only one of many mediums for discussion that our members engage in. Other mediums and services include mailing lists, an IRC channel for chat, job announcements, RSS feeds, syndicated calendar events, monthly gatherings featuring speakers or workshops, and field trips. Membership is free and open to anyone interested.

Presenters and ideas needed for summer gatherings

Monday, 19 May 2008 @ 17:23

Our presenter for our June gathering is not going to be able to make it. This leaves us with an empty calendar. What topics would like to have presentations on? what places you would like to visit? what local artist that you are interested in meeting?

February gathering: Renee Lee on Photography

Tuesday, 26 February 2008 @ 13:29

Don’t forget that our February gathering is tomorrow night, Wednesday, 27 February. I am excited to announce that Renee Lee will be presenting on photography. Renee runs the Salt Lake Photo Club and will come to talk her work and tips and tricks.

As usual, we meet at seven o’clock at Retrospect Studios downtown (230 South 500 West #245, second floor, around corner). The building is on the West side of the street and says ARTSPACE across the front. Park in the lot just South of the Artspace lot to avoid getting towed (in the un-numbered spaces).

Please spread the word. We are excited to see you there!
