Pantone Colors? How much do you really know about it?

Thursday, 26 April 2007 @ 15:18

So how much do we all really understand Pantone colors? For instance at my work the corporate Pantone is a green number 377. I generally use 377 C, since a lot of what we do ends up on coated papers, though sometimes not. In the cases that I use a nice, uncoated paper, generally Cougar 100lb cover and 10 lb text, I use 377 U.

C = coated, and is always the best for coated papers? Right?
U = uncoated, and is always the best for uncoated papers? Right?

Well what about CV, CVC or other off shoots? When are they appropriate? How do you handle the print colors for your brands?

Discuss.

imageready finally retired?

Monday, 9 April 2007 @ 8:45

Has anyone heard if ImageReady has finally been retired with the release of CS3? The beta of Photoshop 10 contains the time line animation feature that I consider the only reason to use ImageReady. Is there any other reason to keep ImageReady around?

What Kind of Application Do You Prefer?

Thursday, 5 April 2007 @ 13:25

Just installed the 64-bit version of Avid Softimage’s XSI v6 and it’s way cool. Much improved over v5 and it has a whole new render manager. Mental Ray seems to be a ton faster as well.

What other apps are being used by you guys? I don’t know too many 3D animators out there any more but the few I do know all use Softimage. Is Maya still the app of choice in the BYU program?

job announcement form no longer requires account

Sunday, 19 October 2008 @ 18:50

I am pleased to announce that the job announcement form on the website no longer requires the user to be logged in. This is significant as most people posting job announcements are managers, human resources staff, or recruiters and therefor have no reason to have an account. If you are someone that only created an account to post a job, please send me a note so that we can remove your profile.
