Scott Hammand BFA Senior Show

Scott Hammond’s BFA Senior Show will be on display in gallery 303 in the Harris Fine Arts Center at Brigham Young University beginning 1 April and running through graduation. Students Jessica Wong and Brianne Hills will be showing pieces also. A reception will be held the evening of the fourth at six-thirty.

Happy Christmas by Meridth Gimbel

I found a new artist today. Her name is Meridth Gimbel and she is an illustrator. Introducing herself on her blog, she writes:

I’m a Children’s Book Illustrator. I have three cavities, and a pocket full of change.”

I enjoyed this piece that she posted on her site and shared with Illustration Rocks! (a blog of illustrators from Brigham Young University) as a digital Christmas card and thought that you all would as well. Check her out; she has a lot of excellent work.

Omniture’s customer Christmas card

This year I was again commissioned to create the Omniture Christmas card. We always do a unique, custom illustrated card that highlights a new technology each year. This year we acquired several companies that now allow Omniture to help companies create custom campaigns targeted at individuals. My concept was to show Santa using our products to provide a better gift experience. I came up with the idea for the card, and created the preliminary sketches.

The initial comps were sent to Ben Simsonsen at 8Fish who created the second round of colored comps, and J.C. Leyendecker created the final artwork.

I then laid out the final piece in Adobe InDesign. Printing Resource in Lindon did 1,500 on Cougar 100# uncoated cover, with matching envelopes.
