Omniture’s customer Christmas card

Tuesday, 11 December 2007 @ 16:23

This year I was again commissioned to create the Omniture Christmas card. We always do a unique, custom illustrated card that highlights a new technology each year. This year we acquired several companies that now allow Omniture to help companies create custom campaigns targeted at individuals. My concept was to show Santa using our products to provide a better gift experience. I came up with the idea for the card, and created the preliminary sketches.

The initial comps were sent to Ben Simsonsen at 8Fish who created the second round of colored comps, and J.C. Leyendecker created the final artwork.

I then laid out the final piece in Adobe InDesign. Printing Resource in Lindon did 1,500 on Cougar 100# uncoated cover, with matching envelopes.

Utah Driver Handbook

Saturday, 1 September 2007 @ 22:02

I was reading in the Utah Driver Handbook and thought I would share some of the cool illustrations I came across showing the benefit of traffic circles (”round-abouts”).

Yeah, I know, you’re asking yourself why I don’t have something more exciting to do on a Saturday night. Well, I went to the Sandy REI this evening and there are some complex intersections to navigate if you are driving to that store from the South and I wanted to find the answer to a question. If you recall, at the end of the 10600 Northbound ramp, there are two right-turn lanes. There are also two right-turn lanes when turning onto 10600 from the South exit of the mall parking lot. In Utah, the law allows you to make a right-hand turn on a red light after you have come to a complete stop. I was uncertain as to wether this also applied to a second right-turn lane. The answer? After reading the handbook, I believe it is yes.

I was also excited to come across some specific language regarding something that I have always believed to be the law, but hadn’t actually seen it documented anywhere. Since it’s violation is a personal pet peeve of mine, I’ll take a moment to also include it here while I’m at it.

Do Not Drive in the Left Lane—The left lane on freeways is for passing only, unless there is heavy traffic. If another vehicle wants to pass you, you must move safely to the right, and you may not increase your speed until the other vehicle has passe[d] you.

job announcement form no longer requires account

Sunday, 19 October 2008 @ 18:50

I am pleased to announce that the job announcement form on the website no longer requires the user to be logged in. This is significant as most people posting job announcements are managers, human resources staff, or recruiters and therefor have no reason to have an account. If you are someone that only created an account to post a job, please send me a note so that we can remove your profile.
