Tempted to wear matching clothing

Monday, 12 November 2007 @ 22:10

I quite enjoyed today’s post on Retrospect Studio’s blog tactfully begging the world to think twice about matching outfits for group photo shoots. The included image from a 1970′s JCPenny catalog cannot be missed.

Digitalfest 2007

Tuesday, 14 August 2007 @ 0:36

Just a quick heads up just in case you didn’t know already. Digitalfest is being held September 14th and 15th. Some get more out of it than others but if you’ve never been I’d say it’s worth the trip. This year they are limiting the number of people who can attend so you need to register here.

vector on life

Monday, 25 June 2007 @ 16:50

Recently, I have really been enjoying artwork that is a composition of crisp vector art overlaid on a collage of disposable or old, out of style materials. Is there a name for this style, even if just slang? What would you call combining these mediums is this way? I find the intersection between rough and smooth stimulating. Consider the following two examples done on a creased, heavy brown paper and old wallpaper with floral and stripped patterns.

I love the energy that I can feel in the pieces. Perhaps they are the work of multiple artists—photographers and illustrators—but the assumed adventure of discovery and creation is exciting to me. I enjoy looking for things everyday items such as this that most people would pass by and imagining what story it is trying to tell.

Post to group through Google Wave

Thursday, 15 October 2009 @ 16:35

I have created a Google Group for us so that you may “wave” to everyone in the group via Google Wave. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a pretty URL or email address because they were already used and Google has a lame rule that they can only be used once, even if the previous instance has been deleted (which was by me, which makes it even more lame).

Visit the Google Group home page for more information. Join the group and then add the address “utah-graphic-arists@googlegroups.com” to your Google Contacts list. You can then add the group address to new waves and everyone will have access to it.

Note that Wave will bark that that user does not have a valid Wave account when you try to add it. Ignore that and simply strike the return key and the address will be added to your contact list.
