Digitalfest 2007
Tuesday, 14 August 2007 @ 0:36Just a quick heads up just in case you didn’t know already. Digitalfest is being held September 14th and 15th. Some get more out of it than others but if you’ve never been I’d say it’s worth the trip. This year they are limiting the number of people who can attend so you need to register here.
vector on life
Monday, 25 June 2007 @ 16:50Recently, I have really been enjoying artwork that is a composition of crisp vector art overlaid on a collage of disposable or old, out of style materials. Is there a name for this style, even if just slang? What would you call combining these mediums is this way? I find the intersection between rough and smooth stimulating. Consider the following two examples done on a creased, heavy brown paper and old wallpaper with floral and stripped patterns.

I love the energy that I can feel in the pieces. Perhaps they are the work of multiple artists—photographers and illustrators—but the assumed adventure of discovery and creation is exciting to me. I enjoy looking for things everyday items such as this that most people would pass by and imagining what story it is trying to tell.
Retrospect studios launches new website
Wednesday, 6 June 2007 @ 11:14
Timothy and Heidi Uhl of Retrospect Studios have launched a new website for their wedding photography business. They have some beautiful work. I would recommend browsing their galleries.
Their new site was designed by Timothy, who is also a designer and web developer and is currently working for Red Olive Design in South Jordan. Other work has taken Timothy to Microsoft and Doug Crouch Photography, as an assistant servicing clients such as America West Airlines, Fender Guitar, and Arizona Mist. In addition to personal interests such as the internet, scuba diving, mountain biking, fishing, and cooking, he has won Web Development and Travel and Tourism DEX Utah State CDC awards, and is a member of the Utah Advertising Federation, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and the Salt Lake College Marketing Program Advisory Committee.
Thanks, Cameron, for the news.
Stock Photo Sites | Favorites?
Wednesday, 11 April 2007 @ 9:53I tend to favor Veer and Jupiter Images for stock. What other places are you all using? I like the stock imagery that Dave Groom and company use at Novell. I assume that includes the guys at Axis 41 as well. Sometimes it seems so hard to find the right stock - in the past I’ve taken a lot of the photography needed myself just to get the exact thing for the project.
