Retrospect studios launches new website

Wednesday, 6 June 2007 @ 11:14

Timothy and Heidi Uhl of Retrospect Studios have launched a new website for their wedding photography business. They have some beautiful work. I would recommend browsing their galleries.

Their new site was designed by Timothy, who is also a designer and web developer and is currently working for Red Olive Design in South Jordan. Other work has taken Timothy to Microsoft and Doug Crouch Photography, as an assistant servicing clients such as America West Airlines, Fender Guitar, and Arizona Mist. In addition to personal interests such as the internet, scuba diving, mountain biking, fishing, and cooking, he has won Web Development and Travel and Tourism DEX Utah State CDC awards, and is a member of the Utah Advertising Federation, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, and the Salt Lake College Marketing Program Advisory Committee.

Thanks, Cameron, for the news.

Stock Photo Sites | Favorites?

Wednesday, 11 April 2007 @ 9:53

I tend to favor Veer and Jupiter Images for stock. What other places are you all using? I like the stock imagery that Dave Groom and company use at Novell. I assume that includes the guys at Axis 41 as well. Sometimes it seems so hard to find the right stock – in the past I’ve taken a lot of the photography needed myself just to get the exact thing for the project.

Connoisseur of fine abstract desktop pictures

Tuesday, 10 April 2007 @ 14:00

I concider myself a connoisseur of fine abstract desktop pictures. I bounce back and forth between images and a solid gray background, but always return to my collection. I do not like raw photographs as they are distracting and am very picky about what makes the cut.

Here is an image of thumbnails of the images in my current rotation (I have them set to cycle every thirty minutes). I like them to be fairly simple: repeating patterns, solid colors, or blurred images. I have collected these over the years during my jaunts across internet. Does anyone know of any good sources for more images like these?

Equipment Call | What Kind Of Glass?

What’s everyone using out there? I still use my Canon 10D and love it. I’ve replaced the shutter once already and have probably close to 100K clicks. I’ve used the 5D a bit too and played with the 20D and 30D. I’m using the Canon Rebel XT here at work. I guess I’m a canon fan.

My fav lens for portraits and weddings is the 70-200mm IS 2.8L.
I have the 35mm 1.4L prime on my body 70% of the time.
My fav stylized lens is my 15mm Fisheye. I use it all the time. Can be fun for portraits too.

Anyone using the Fred Miranda forums?

Post to group through Google Wave

Thursday, 15 October 2009 @ 16:35

I have created a Google Group for us so that you may “wave” to everyone in the group via Google Wave. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a pretty URL or email address because they were already used and Google has a lame rule that they can only be used once, even if the previous instance has been deleted (which was by me, which makes it even more lame).

Visit the Google Group home page for more information. Join the group and then add the address “utah-graphic-arists@googlegroups.com” to your Google Contacts list. You can then add the group address to new waves and everyone will have access to it.

Note that Wave will bark that that user does not have a valid Wave account when you try to add it. Ignore that and simply strike the return key and the address will be added to your contact list.
