[UGAF] selecting object below in AI

I'd be curious to know myself. In the meanwhile, I work around it  
three ways:
sometimes I lock content so it'll stay put and I can click below.
Right click and use the "select" options
and now I do everything I can in layers and that way I can just lock  
the layer while I work on other aspects of the piece
