No, look at that wikipedia entry I posted and it will describe what  
it is. It tweaks how the font is rendered/anti-aliased so that no  
ascenders or descenders "straddle pixels". It makes things much more  
crisp and/or consistent from one letter to the next. It aligns the  
text to the pixel grid.
